A Few New Things

Here are a few new additions to the blogroll here at Georgia on My Mind:

Couldn't You Just Di? – “Thoughts and feelings” exemplifies what Di’s blog is all about. She says you’ll get a bit of everything here. It’s just me being me. I’m vocal, a bit eccentric and very “odd”. Take a minute, get to know her and bask in the world that is my crazy life!!!

Austin in Peru and Chasing God – Both blogs are authored by young men from my church. They left this week for a two month trip to Peru. They will be leading worship, going to villages that have never heard about God, and leading Bible studies.

Family Travel...See the World With Your Kids – No, this isn’t a Georgia based blog, but Shelia Scarborough recently contributed to the Georgia Carnival with a post regarding FDR and Warm Springs, Georgia. This is an interesting blog with lots of information regarding interesting places and travel advice. Make sure you check out the links to Shelia’s other writing spots as well.

Travel - Eat - Sleep - is a blog authored by Atlanta’s own Tushar Mathur. His about page explains this site aims to provide our readers with reviews of various restaurants, our experiences while traveling various airlines and staying in different hotels around the world. Tushar recently reviewed Stone Mountain for the Georgia Carnival, but his posts include other locations such as Maui and travel advice as well. He also authors Invest in India and Everything Finance.

Now Showing – is a blog authored by Paw Paw Bill and involves movie news regarding films that are captioned for the hearing impaired.

Never Clever Whatsoever – This blog author states I’m some random teenager who thought it was a good idea to start writing about random things in a blog. Believe me when I say the writing at this site is hardly random for a teen….He’s got some great and entertaining stuff over there.

Knitternall – Thanks to the Dunwoody North Civic Association for letting me know about this blog which is primarily about knitting, but check out this thought provoking post titled What If We Had to Stay Home?

Science on TV – At first glance you would think this blog isn’t a Georgia blog, but it is. The author, Shana, is based in Atlanta, and she is a self-confessed science geek. Science isn’t her only love…..she’s also into music. Check out her Carribbean Music TV, Jamaican Music TV, Puerto Rican Music TV, and Brazilian Music TV blogs. She’s also a freelance writer and a consulting epidemiologist at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Whew! I thought I was busy!

Atlanta's Blah Girls – Sara explains this blog better than I can so in her words………I've been documenting this charming Blah Girl street art for over a year now and posting photos up on my personal blog Ashes and Glass. After a recent reflourishing of Blah Girl art around town, I decided she needed her own space to stretch her cute little arms and get cozy.

That’s it for now, but believe me there are many, many more Georgia blogs waiting in the wings. If you have contacted me in the past to request to be added to the blogroll please contact me at gamind@mail.com if I haven’t done it yet. Also, while I have quite list of additions I’ve discovered on my own, you do get bumped to the front of line if you email a request to me. :)

Now… on to the highlights of Georgia blogging during the past two weeks.

Please support these fine Georgia bloggers by letting them know you have visited them with a comment. Your continued support with your links and shout-outs at your site helps to alert others to what we Georgia bloggers have to offer:

Memorial Day

Is Memorial Day just a day off from work? A day just to have something on the grill, drink a little, and water ski? While that’s what many do… the day was set aside for much more.

Over at A SAHM's Journal Candace provides some background regarding Happy Memorial Day!

I just spent a long Memorial Day weekend in Washington D.C., and my experience at Arlington National Cemetery was the epitome of observing Memorial Day.

Religion and Spiritual Matters

From Provocative Church a post that makes you think…..Is God useful or beautiful?

If you have ever read the chapter of Luke in the New Testament then you have probably noticed Luke addresses someone named Theophilus. In my post, Theophilus, Most Honored Theophilus, at Got Bible I examine who Theophilus might be and if he really matters.

Georgia History, Attractions, and Entertainment

Sheila Scarborough presents Swim in FDR's Little White House pool posted at Family Travel: See The World With Your Kids, saying, "A neat opportunity in summer 2008 to swim in FDR's famous therapeutic pool at the Warm Springs, Georgia "Little White House."" Wow, how neat is that!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Stone Mountain. After reading Stone Mountain Park: Review posted at Travel-Eat-Sleep by Tushar Mathur I have to admit the Stone Mountain I remember from my childhood no longer exists. Guess I need to go, huh?

Paw Paw Bill provides more current movie choices with captions for those that need them in his post Caveat Empty posted at Now Showing.

Have you been out to a really great restaurant lately? In case you missed it here at Georgia on My Mind here is my review of Stoney River Steaks.

InDecatur provides some great video from the recent Decatur Arts Festival.

Major Issues and Politics

Does America have a death wish? Freddie Sirmans, Sr. provides survival basics and The First Law of Survival is Protect Your Own.

Paw Paw Bill’s inspiration for this post…. May I Play Through, Por Favor? posted at Paw Paw Bill involved a bit of an Athen’s camp out and a few dealings with day laborers. Just how do you feel about a wall along the U.S. southern border?

Ethan presents Lake Lanier: Where Did It Go? posted at Never Clever Whatsoever......Who should enjoy the water of Lake Lanier? Georgians or the folks of Alabama and Florida?

InDecatur provides information regarding proposed plans for renovating Decatur Cemetary presented at Decatur's City Hall the other night.

Literature and Writing

John Ottinger presents Human, Understand Thyself: An Interview with Scott Mackay posted at Grasping For The Wind.

Georgia Wild Weather and Other Posts of Nature

Cousin Pat from Georgia presents Island City Survives posted at Hurricane Radio, saying, "I grew up on St Simons Island and my parents and plenty of family friends still live there. On May 11th, they too got a taste of the Mother's Day Tornadoes, and my Mom, Wendy, went out and got pictures. This post is based around the pictures and some of the stories I heard from being on the phone all that day to Coastal Georgia."

Angela over Georgia Photos shares Photographic Evidence - Golf Ball-sized Hail!

Tony Gibbs presents The Waders Return posted at Birds and Things.

Education

How do you feel about charter schools? The Oconee Democrat presents Charter school needed for Oconee's future posted at Oconee County, Georgia Politics - Recreation, News, Art, Music, Culture, Sports and More, saying, "Lots of Oconee County residents have been wondering about how Charter School may change our excellent local school system. Rumors and innuendo have been the only source of speculation for a while, and this is attempt to stem the racial and religious reaction against both the proposed charter school and the school system with the status quo in Oconee County, Georgia"

Over at History Is Elementary I examine the month of May….It is the best of times....it is the worst of times. Well, I'm just glad May is almost over. :)

All Things Financial

Tushar Mathur presents Find the right Fund Manager and Free Magazine: Global Finance posted at Invest In India and over at Everything Finance he presents Who makes the Tough Money Decisions ? and Ways to Save money !!

The next edition of the carnival will be found at Georgia on My Mind on Friday, June 6th. Posts can be sent to gamind@mail.com or use the handy submission form. Submissions are due by Thursday, June 5th by 6:00 p.m.

Thanks for your continued support of the Georgia Carnival!

Memorial Day Observed....

Yes......I'm still on my trip out of town. We spent almost the entire day at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday. It was the perfect place to be on a Memorial Day weekend....so inspiring.....so thought provoking....There is no way I could not leave there without feeling pride and gratitude for all of the men and women who have served in our armed forces.

Have a great day and look for the Georgia Carnival to post sometime Tuesday.

Celebratin' at Stoney River

Let me set the scene for you…..My family and I were doing the over the river and through the woods thing heading to my mother-in-law’s for Mother’s Day when suddenly I was struck with the realization that my birthday was just around the corner….Last Sunday was the big day for moms everywhere, but May 13th would be the big day for me, and all the other babies born that day.

There we were…one dad, one mom, one son, and one daughter enjoying the sunshine after the early morning Mother’s Day storms talking and laughing our way down the road when I suddenly interrupted the revelry with an exclamation of, “Oh crap!”

Dear Hubby nearly ran off the road thinking we were about to experience a semi plowing into us, or perhaps I had spotted a Georgia State Patrol car he had overlooked. “What?!? What?!? What?!?,” he asked over and over.

Very slowly and in a quiet voice I said, “I just realized I’m going to be 46….there’s nowhere to go now but sliding on down to the muck and mire of 50. Oh my gosh! I’m going to be 50 in four years!

By the time we arrived at my in-laws I had worked myself in such a state of despair that the kids had to help me into the house. Dear Hubby brought me a cold compress, and I contemplated the rest of my life on the other side of the 50 year line.

So, what finally got me out of my funk and ready to face the rest of my nearly past 50 life?

Dear Hubby took me to Stoney River Legendary Steaks to celebrate my birth!

We decided to venture out of our part of town and hit a place we had never been. I left the plans up to Dear Hubby and as usual he did not let us down.

Stoney River Legendary Steaks located adjacent to Cumberland Mall looked interesting from the outside….once inside it was just as their website says, “The relaxing ambiance of a first-class mountain lodge.” Polished concrete floors, an interesting bar area separated from the rest of the dining room by a large double-sided fireplace, intimate booths and chairs covered in dark leather, and and open kitchen area across the back of the dining room all added to the atmosphere.

Our reservation was for eight o’clock, and when we arrived the dining room was rather full….always a good sign. The hostess took us right away to a table near the rear of the dining room close the kitchen. At first I wasn’t so sure I wanted to be that close to the kitchen,. and since the dining room was full it was a bit loud. Sara, our waitress, came right over, introduced herself, and took our drink order.

By the time my Martini arrived I had become accustomed to the buzz of conversations all around me and the occasional clank or crash from the kitchen. Perhaps it was the Lemondrop Martini that got me in tune with Stoney River’s atmosphere. The drink was a blend of citrus and sour with a ring of colored sugar around the glass and a lemon slice perched along the rim. I don’t normally order a cocktail, but afterall I don’t turn 46 everyday either. Prior to this I was Martini virgin…..I’m glad I decided to change that.

Sara quickly returned to advise us regarding the specials and to take our orders. Dear Hubby and Dear Daughter decided to share a crabcake…..unlike many establishments this crabcake was large enough to share. While I don’t particularly care for crabcakes I did taste the Lemon Caper Sauce the crabcake sat in. It was great.

For our salad course Dear Hubby chose the Head of Lettuce which was actually a third of a head sliced longways so it would lie flat. It was covered with bleu cheese, tomatoes, and bacon. Dear Daughter enjoyed the Ceasar Salad while I gratefully surrendered to an add-on salad to the night’s menu. It was Heaven sent…..Bibb lettuce with bleu cheese crumbles, sugared pecans, and thin slices of Granny Smith apples. It was wonderful.

For the main course we all had steak, of course. Pure perfection……the kind of steak that would make you slap your mamma! Dear Hubby and I both ordered Bernaise on the side with our steak. Bernaise Sauce holds a special place in our marriage as we ordered it for our wedding night dinner at Hugo’s (used to be located in the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta). Over the years we’ve become experts with Bernaise Sauce. For our sides….Dear Hubby had asparagus while I opted for the baked potato, of course.

We also enjoyed a glass of wine….I had the Shiraz while Dear Hubby savored the Kenwood Jack London Cabernet. Both were perfect pairings with our meal.

While the food was wonderful and the atmosphere interesting, it was the little details that make Stoney River Legendary Steaks so legendary. The way the food was presented, the glass wine decanters, and the impeccable service all made the evening so special.

Today marked the one week anniversary of our visit to Stoney River Legendary Steaks, and amazingly the folks at Stoney River are still serving us. In today’s mail we discovered a nice hand-written thank-you card from our expert server, Sara.

Wow! What a way to remember the beginning of my slow descent into the muck and mire of 50 and beyond.

If this is what it’s going to be like I’m ready to undertake the slide willingly.

I Need a Favor...

This post will remain at the top for a few days. If you have seen it please scroll down for new content.

UPDATE: Apparently you can vote via a PollMonkey widget at a separate post that was created after the link I give below. You are allowed to vote once per day between now and May 26th from what I could gather at the site. Once you use the PollMonkey widget it deactivates it for your computer and shows you a tally of votes until 24 hours passes. Then you can vote again. Here’s the link:

Click here to vote for History Is Elementary for best education blog.

It’s a little confusing because the original posting said you could vote by leaving a comment. At any rate I’m very grateful for the folks who have taken the time to vote for me at Best of Blogs. Thank you!
--------------

I’ll admit other than asking for a submission or two for the carnival I don’t ask much from my fellow Georgia bloggers, but I’m going to this time.

The Best of Blogs has named History Is Elementary (that “other” place where I blog) as one of their nominated best blogs in the category of Education and Homeschooling.

Could you take a moment and think about voting for me? Of course, if you haven’t ever been over to History Is Elementary I would encourage you to check me out before voting…..there are nine other blogs nominated in the same category. :)

If you would like to vote for me you can visit the announcement page here. I believe all that is required to vote is to leave a comment stating that in the category of education and homeschooling you vote for History Is Elementary. Other categories including travel are listed on the post as well, so don’t let that throw you.

Thanks for helping me.

In other news the most recent Ga. Carnival can be read here, and I added a few more blogs to the blogroll here.

After the Storm---Divert Your Attention With a Few New Blogs

Wasn’t the early, early morning edition of Mother’s Day a blast? Yes, I’m being a bit sarcastic. Living west of the city as I do my family was up and down all night long as Mother Nature rumbled and roared continuously. By early afternoon we were all exhausted from lack of sleep…..a minor complaint when we were faced with some of the damage in South Fulton county on our trek to Grandma’s yesterday afternoon. A little sleep loss is nothing to complain about when faced with the loss of a home or life.

In case you missed it the latest edition of the Georgia Carnival can be found here,
and below you can find seven more Georgia blogs I’ve added to my blogroll here at Georgia on My Mind. Enjoy!

The Georgia Jukebox, - is an online radio station and blog featuring Georgia music (as well as independent music in general). I can’t wait to have more time to fully explore this Georgia music site.

From Melissa's Desk – Melissa is a homeschooling mom, and has lived in Georgia all of her life.

Mermerings – Mermer is an Atlanta blogger who blogs about design, whether it’s fashion, affordable art, home furnishings, housewares, interior design, or architecture, and local events and places of interest, from festivals to farmers markets, art exhibitions to hour tours, etc.

Reverend Mommy's Random Thoughts – Take one UMC pastor, a citizen of Lawrenceville, a mommy, and stir……you end up with Reverend Mommy

A Snowball's Chance in.... – A Canadian living in the rural south….a brand new mom…a radio geek…go meet Jen

Film Georgia! – The about page states We helped the Bandit outrun Smokey, we fried green tomatoes in a whistlestop cafe and we drove the man who drove Miss Daisy. We taught Vinny’s cousin to eat grits and shared a box of chocolates with a man named Forrest on a shady park bench. The tagline says home of the Film-GA license plate campaign supporting feature film and television production in and around Georgia.

Paul Stamatiou – Paul is a 21 year old Computational Media student at Georgia Tech who loves Silicon Valley, technology, and Apple. This post telling me I need business cards caught my attention, and I’ll be returning to it.

Georgia Carnival: Edition 35

Welcome to the Mother’s Day edition of the Georgia Blog Carnival. Take a minute this weekend to honor your mom and other women in your life who have mentored and loved you through the good times and bad…think of all the motherly types you might know…I bet you will be surprised how many women have touched your life in some way.

This morning a Marietta mom, Dee Wissing, received breakfast in bed courtesy of Emeril on Good Morning America. Can you imagine being the mother of 17 children and later dealing with all of their spouses and offspring? Oh my! Dee, my hat is off to you, and you did deserve breakfast in bed this morning.

The next carnival will be hosted here
Georgia on My Mind on Tuesday, May 27th. I will be out of town for Memorial Day weekend, so instead of posting on Friday the carnival will be delayed until Tuesday. Submissions will be due Monday, May 26th.

If you maintain a Georgia blog and would like to host the carnival at your site e-mail me to set up a date. It’s a great way to put your own personal spin on the carnival.

The last edition of the Georgia carnival can be found
here, and the carnival archives are found here.

Many thanks goes to the Blog Carnival site…you know, the place you visit to submit your postings to the carnival. They make creating and maintaining a blog carnival a breeze, especially for someone as busy as I am. Well, they have decided the Carnival for Georgia Bloggers is just worthy enough to be one of their featured carnivals on their homepage all day on Sunday, May 11th. Here’s some more info on their featured carnivals. What a wonderful Mother’s Day present for me! Many thanks go to the Blog Carnival hub for their recognition.

Now… on to the highlights of Georgia blogging during the past two weeks. No categories are given for this edition. Just wander around and explore. You might find your next great addition to your blogroll.

Please support these fine Georgia bloggers by letting them know you have visited them with a comment. Your continued support with your links and shout-outs at your site helps to alert others to what we Georgia bloggers have to offer:

Well, I now know how bring comments out of the woodwork….simply publish a post regarding parents who don't vaccinate their children like Principal's Office did. Says Savred, “I could only conclude that unless parents who don’t get their kids vaccinated are homeschooling, they really don’t give a rip about the good welfare of other people’s kids or the community for that matter."

Over at Provocative Church Bill says, “First the bad news.....Every year about 3,700 churches close their doors in the U.S. That’s one in one hundred churches. That makes 3,700 new churches required each year in the U.S. just to maintain the status quo---if you forget about population growth." Head on over for the rest of the story. It’s not as bleak as you imagine it to be.

Having a barbecue this weekend with your mama? Then Vajras over at Vajras Straight Up wants us to remember three important words….No, not I love you, but the words BIG, BOLD, and QUAFFABLE. What is this quaffable, you say? Vajra's video has the 411.

The Q Family over at The Q Family Adventure share their trip to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and state they were stepping into a whole new world last Saturday.

Jen over at JenuineJen took the twins to Pine Mountain, Georgia where they visited Wild Animal Safari……go along on on their trip as Jen remembers, “Being licked by a giraffe does not work for me.

Noric Dilanchian is not a Georgia blogger but has submitted to the Georgia Carnival before providing us with information based on Georgia music and music history. This time he presents Ray Charles Learned From His Mama posted at Lightbulb, saying, "Other than musical brilliance, what else contributed to the US$75 million net worth of Ray Charles (1930-2004)? All businesses with intellectual property to manage can learn from his skills as a negotiator who owned and controlled his key copyright assets."

Every wonder how Elementaryhistoryteacher rolls in the classroom? Ever wondered what it would be like to be a fly on my classroom wall? Here’s your chance with my post from History Is Elementary called Historical Triage.

Everything Finance presents How to prevent a financial blunder posted at Invest In India. This post made me think hard about my own personal spending habits and my philosophy regarding money in general. The posts asks some hard questions…..What conditions can be classified as a financial disaster? Are your spending habits taking you towards one? How can you avoid a financial disaster without being too harsh on yourself?

I love to shop and lunch at Atlantic Station, but I guess I’m sooooo clueless. Did you know Atlantic Station has a Geisha House? Well, Claudine discovered it and shares her visit in her post, Dinner at the Geisha House, posted at The Atlanta Traveler.

Salmongirl’s post Ya Viene el Sol - Ozomatli brings Sun to Atlanta posted at Ashes and Glass brings back my own connection with music and driving on a bright and sunny day. Haven’t you ever been almost to your house and then that most favorite song comes on the radio and you turn and go another way…just until the song over. I do it all the time…the kids wonder why I drive by the house two or three times. :)

Mermer presents In step with spring. posted at Mermerings, where she relates a recent trip to the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. Complete with pictures this is a must see read. It would seem I need to plan a trip to the market soon.

Dawn our favorite Belle of the Blog presents Sweet Jane where she advises if you are in Atlanta, you have to go to one of the remaining four nights of 500 Songs for Kids at Smith’s Olde Bar. Wondering about the title, Sweet Jane? Well, head on over to Dawn’s post and find out…..

Over at Concept Hub, Inc. Sherry has developed a Social Media Quiz. She states, “I developed [the quiz] to score how well companies are communicating with and more importantly, listenting to their audience.”

Popular culture bothers me. Parents and children resemble schools of fish turning this way and that as they follow one popular trend after another regarding fashion, entertainment, and even opinion. We all have the freedom in our personal choices, but perhaps we need to use our own common sense and education to evaluate what others want to present to us. Over at Got Bible I exclaim, Oprah Ain't My Girl.

My children have a Paw Paw Bill, but the Georgia Blogosphere’s version, William Cotter, is talking toilits with his post Crapper Flapper Flap and discussing Movie Captions over at Paw Paw Bill.

I’m about ready to stake my claim on a beach somewhere, so John’s post How to Choose a Summer Reading Book posted at Grasping For The Wind is just the ticket for me. How about you?

Oconee Democrat presents Vote for Maxey if you want to pave the entire county posted at Oconee County, Georgia Politics - Recreation, News, Art, Music, Culture, Sports and More, saying, "Oconee County Georgia is having a nearly all Republican primary in July and political discontent and upheaval are all the buzz locally, but we do not need developers paving any more of Oconee County unless we want to become Snellville"

Are you a landlord? I received a cool link the other day to Landlord Profits where you can sign up for their free monthly reports including information regarding tips, information, and some fun things as well.

Around Felicia’s place everyone has been busy. She has stopped long enough to share Adventures with Slashables and Busy in the Plush factory posted at Fluffy Flowers.

Todd has been writing about The Bitter Victory posted at Article of Faith. Says Todd, “Both sides have pretty much sunk to near epic levels of studpidity and vacuousness as “the bitch” fights with “the black” to the death over the nomination.” Guess who Todd is writing about….:) Todd gives us a bit more with this Teletubby post letting us know Hillary is NOT the one holding the purse, and in his post Things That Make You Go Hmmmm....Todd shares a church sign message. Don’t you just love it when politics and religion get all twisted up?

Kevin Fleming presents 5 Great Video Players For Your PC posted at Satellite TV Guru. This is timely because I love to watch video on my PC!

Trevor McKay presents Dating And Courting… What's The Difference? posted at The Christian Dating Chronicles.

How many of you out there remember the old Chevy Show they used have at Six Flags? This video Steve Williams, our favorite Georgia Road Geek, shares reminds me of it. The music is great, too! It’s called FreewayJim, The Blues, And News .

Do you know who Dr. Shadrach Meshach Lockridge is? He’s gone on to his heavenly reward now, but watch this video where Dr. Lockridge proclaims, “That’s my king!” Awesome images and music!

Freddie Sirmans says he knows why the rate of compensation for CEOs has reached runaway proportions and he has some thoughts regarding economics an idiot can understand.

The next edition of the carnival will be found at Georgia on My Mind on Tuesday, May 27th. Posts can be sent to gamind@mail.com or use the handy submission form. Submissions are due by Monday, May 26th by 6:00 p.m.Thanks for your continued support of the Georgia Carnival!

Tomorrow is Carnival Time!

The Georgia Carnival will post tomorrow here at Georgia on My Mind. If you would like to submit a post you can email it to me at gamind@mail.com or use the handy submission form. The original cut-off time was 6 p.m., but I can take them up until midnight tonight.

Submissions can include anything from a Georgia blogger-----opinions, news items, personal reflections, photography, tours of places you have visited, a list of things you did yesterday. There is no such thing as an unworthy posting. The carnival is more interesting and showcases Georgia’s participation in the blogosphere much better when we have lots of variety in the carnival postings.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know how the carnival has grown…..currently I email submission reminders and information regarding new additions to approximately 200 bloggers. Wow!

While you wait on the carnival to post check out this week’s new additions to the Georgia blogroll here.

New Blogroll Additions!

Sew Blessed – I love it when I find a friend who has a blog and I was unaware. I discovered Donna had a blog when our kids were online at school. Donna’s son said, “Hey, wanna see my mom’s blog?” to which my daughter said, “Hey, my mom has blogs as well!” Donna posts wonderful pictures of her family, nature prints, and her beautiful quilting projects. I’m “sew blessed” to know her.

The Atlanta Traveler - As a travel writer, Claudine Williams, has written about destinations in the U.S. and abroad. She even spent a month in West Africa and lived with a host family. Join Claudine as she is ready to explore Atlanta telling us what is good and not so hot in the ATL.

Georgia Soul - this site is a supplement to the Georgia Soul web page and is an interactive way to share the wealth of great soul records from Georgia

The Georgia Art Exchange – is a group of real estate professionals aiming to assist artists in Georgia connect and network with other artists, galleries, and collectors. I’ve linked to their monthly newsletter, “Real Georgia,” before within the Georgia Carnival. This is a great resource for anyone involved in creative arts, or if you are like me and simply enjoy knowing where to go to experience the creative arts.

Rowland's Office – All Braves….all the time.

The Greatest Story Ever Told - is written by Jim Morrow, a United Methodist Seminary student, and he ministers to and with the youth at his church. In June, he will be covering the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia.

Over in the blogroll for Georgia friends I’ve added the following:

No Budget Travel – This blog hosts the Travel on a Shoestring Carnivals which highlight budget travel tips and destinations around the U.S. and the world. This is a great place for Georgia bloggers to submit their posts on Georgia hotels, restaurants, museums, churches, hikes, daytrips, parks, whatever! This page will tell you more….Submit by the second Wednesday of each month

Birds and Things has been in the carnival before….it’s written by a blogger who used to live in Georgia and from time to time remembers his time in our great state.
